Minutes of the January 18, 2007 Meeting
25th Anniversary of our Chapter

Meeting called to order at 12:15p.m. EST by the Jim Benford, Chairman

Pledge to Flag

Joe Jaksa conducted the installation of the Officers for 2007

Minutes of the November 16, 2006 meeting were approved.

Al Streu gave the Treasurers Report. Report was received by the membership

Motion and second to purchase 10, $25.00 Applebee’s gift cards to be given to future speakers and to pay the invoice for the domain name. Motion approved.

Golf Outing – Tom Gruno talked about this years outing. Motion and second to hold the outing at the Timbers Golf Course on May 18, 2007 and pay the $250.00 deposit. Motion passed.
Motion and second to appoint Dan Smith to the golf committee. Motion passed.

Discussion on the normal donations that the chapter makes to area charities, etc. It was decided that these would be approved as they came up.

School Awards. Joe Jaksa handed out copies of the applications for the $500.00 award to schools to help improve the physical security of their buildings. Applications will be available on February 1, 2007, Due back to chapter March 23, 2007 and recipients notified May 1, 2007. Awards will be issued on or about June 4, 2007.

This is the 25th anniversary year of the Flint Chapter. Tom Gruno suggested that this be placed on all communications that the chapter sends out. It was agreed that this would happen.

Joe Jaksa stated that Dan Kropp, from ASIS International said hello to everyone.

Tom Gruno asked about holding joint meetings with other chapters from the region. Chairman Benford will do some research on this and report in the near future.

It was announced that B K Teachout, would soon have their certification to do business in the State of OHIO. Congratulations were expressed.

Dan Smith reported on February 15, 2007 meeting. We will have a speaker from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection. He will give two presentations: Customs and Border Protection 101, who, why and where, and The Economic Impact that the Border Traffic has on the area.

Minutes of the February 15, 2007 Meeting

Meeting called to order at 12:10p.m. EST by the Jim Benford, Chairman

Guest Speaker Grace Ranger, Genesee County Emergency Management, County Homeland Security Director spoke. She provided information on:

1. National Incident Management System –a Federal Mandated Program for Emergency Responders, Hospitals, and Emergency Management Directors

2. MEMAC and EMAC – Michigan Emergency Management Assistance Compact.

3. County Command Vehicle – Final 800 MHz radio programming needs to be completed. Vehicle is operational. Housing location is still to be determined

4. Grants have been used to purchase reverse 911 systems, Hazmat Team Supplies, Bomb Squad equipment, including robot for Flint Police, 800 MHz radios

Grace announced that she will be retiring the end of March, and the County Board will decide on a replacement.

Motion by Tom to accept minutes of January meeting. Approved.

No treasurers report.

School Grants – Jim and Dan updated on status. Dan has provided info to the GISD superintendent and the information has been provided to all school districts in Genesee County. Jim mentioned the press release in the Journal.

Golf – Tom – Date will be May 11, 2007. We need hole sponsors, door prizes, participants. Golf committee will meet in the near future.

Joint Meeting – Jim is talking with the Chair in Saginaw. Will know more in April. Our chapter is interested.

Future meetings. Discussion about a 25th anniversary party took place. Discussion about October meeting. Joe Cozart volunteered to research and report back. Possible subjects of other meetings were discussed.

It was announce that Paul Pisarsky has taken a leave of absence. It was stated that we hope he will continue to be a part of our group.

Minutes of the March 15, 2007 Meeting
25th Anniversary of our Chapter

Meeting called to order at 12:17p.m. EST by the Jim Benford, Chairman

Guest Speaker Jim Bonnell, Detroit Chapter. Presented information on UPDATE 2007. Location is Laurel Manor in Livonia. Event will be held May 15 and 16, 2007. There are a total of 7 seminars over 2 days. Some will repeat. Buffet lunch each day. Vendors. More information is available at : www.asisdetroit.com

Treasurers report was given and received as presented

Motion by Dick Ramsdell to accept minutes of January meeting. Approved.

School Grants – Jim Benford updated on status. We have received 2 to date. Deadline is March 23, 2007

Golf – Tom Gruno – Date will be May 11, 2007. We need hole sponsors, door prizes, participants. Flyers for the event have been emailed to all members. Event will be held at the Timbers in Tuscola Mi.

25th Birthday Party. Joe Cozart. Will report in April.

FBIAA Golf Outing will be held August 13, 2007

New member T. J. Bauswell from Securitas was introduced.
